Wikipedia editing in a classroom setting

This project was created for the class “East and West: Images of the Self” that explored the notion of identity in the Asian diaspora through works of literature and visual art. Students collectively created or contributed to already existing Wikipedia articles on women authors and artists. In addition to doing biographical research, students learned how to write and edit Wikipedia articles. This project responded to a call for contributions in Wikipedia’s effort to develop the representation of women in its articles.

Digital Portfolio

In this final assignment for the class “What is America?: A Nation of Immigrants”, the students’ task was to answer the titular question What is America? by compiling a digital portfolio that showcased their personal choices for each of the module areas we had discussed during the course. Students were required to pick one of the following platforms to create their portfolio: Weebly, Pinterest, Instagram, or Tumblr.
